Cindy Xu is a Master of Applied Statistics and Data Science graduate student at UCLA. She graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Science in Financial Mathematics and Statistics and has dedicated many of her undergraduate years as a data consultant to numerous nonprofit organizations. Previously, she interned at the California Policy Lab and analyzed the UC-CCP dataset to examine the impact of generational wealth on student debt in the subsequent generation. Having developed interests in the intersection between statistical programming, data analysis, and public policy, she continues her work at the SLLI by exploring the effect of COVID-19 pandemic interventions on the financial health of California's student borrowers.
